We are dedicated to education and social and cultural inclusion. Our goal is to integrate all age groups into society, regardless of their socioeconomic status, promote lifelong learning, and combat social isolation, illiteracy, and digital illiteracy, fostering social cohesion and integration.
The Senior and Intergenerational University of the Municipality of Almada, known as UNICA, is located in Charneca de Caparica and Sobreda, the largest and fastest-growing parish in the municipality. For the past 13 years, it has been a point of reference in providing educational and social services to the community. UNICA is part of the non-profit association In Actu Vitae, whose main mission is the inclusion of all age groups in civil society, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Lifelong learning and the fight against social isolation are fundamental pillars of our daily work. Furthermore, we actively seek to combat illiteracy and digital illiteracy, as we recognize the significant impact of these factors on social inclusion. Our goal is to offer quality education at an affordable cost, aiming for effective inclusion and integration of the community into civil society, regardless of socioeconomic conditions and country of origin. Through a wide range of activities, such as daily classes, workshops, gatherings, lectures, and study visits, we promote active aging, lifelong learning, curriculum enrichment, social integration, and interaction between different generations.
